Last week, United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) hosted its ninth annual Day of Caring, presented by PNC Bank. The event, held in collaboration with local nonprofits, schools, and community organizations, began with a celebration at Town Square Park on September 13.
Nearly 900 volunteers participated in over 40 service projects alongside more than 37 community partners to benefit the Southern Nevada community.
“United Way of Southern Nevada is dedicated to connecting those who can help with those who need help to create a more equitable community for all,” said Samuel Rudd, COO/CFO of United Way of Southern Nevada. “We are grateful to the hundreds of volunteers who participated in our 9th Annual Day of Caring. Each volunteer project plays a crucial role in strengthening and building a more resilient Southern Nevada.”
“PNC is committed to making a positive impact in our community,” said Denette Suddeth, PNC regional president for Nevada and UWSN board member. “On this Day of Caring, we once again teamed up with Spread the Word Nevada to support early learners. Our employees volunteered to build birthday, craft, and graduation boxes for the nonprofit’s Readers in Training program. PNC Bank is focused on supporting early childhood education in Nevada and around the country through the PNC Grow Up Great® initiative. It’s the third year PNC has partnered with Spread the Word Nevada on the Day of Caring.”
Volunteer activities included tending school gardens, assembling school supply kits for students, and distributing essential food items to those in need. This collective effort aimed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of families, students, seniors, and individuals.
United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN), PNC Bank, and other partners worked together to ensure that this event provided vital support and brought positive change to the community.
