United Way promotes leaders to boost community initiatives

United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) is bolstering its leadership team with several promotions aimed at enhancing community impact in the coming years. The organization announced that Karen Alonso has been elevated to Chief Advancement and Communications Officer, Jennifer Beckwith to Senior Director of Marketing, Megan Cortney to Senior Director of Community Impact, and Savanna Sibley to Senior Director of Volunteer Engagement.

“These promotions reflect the incredible dedication and leadership of Karen, Jennifer, Megan, and Savanna in advancing UWSN’s mission,” stated Samuel Rudd, President and CEO of United Way of Southern Nevada. “Their expertise and passion have strengthened our ability to serve Southern Nevada, and I am confident that in their new roles, they will continue to drive meaningful impact in our community.”

Karen Alonso joined UWSN in April 2023 with extensive experience in nonprofit fundraising and strategic communications. Her new role as Chief Advancement and Communications Officer will leverage her skills in brand growth and donor engagement. She also holds positions within the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the American Marketing Association.

Jennifer Beckwith brings over ten years of marketing experience across various sectors. Since joining UWSN in 2021, she has led numerous initiatives including a website redesign. Now as Senior Director of Marketing, she continues her commitment to community service through volunteerism.

Megan Cortney now serves as Senior Director of Community Impact after joining UWSN in 2021. Her responsibilities include overseeing significant programs like the Emergency Food and Shelter Program. She remains active on the Nevada Advisory Council on Federal Assistance.

Savanna Sibley has been part of UWSN since 2019, playing a key role in promoting volunteerism. As Senior Director of Volunteer Engagement, she oversees platforms like Volunteer Connect while collaborating with partners such as NFL Green.
