Western Nevada College held its Fallon Commencement Ceremony on May 20 at Rafter 3C Arena, where graduates, families, and supporters gathered to celebrate the Class of 2026.

The college moved the ceremony to a larger venue due to growth in both its Fallon campus and the number of participating graduates. The event recognized students’ achievements as they received degrees and certificates in front of family members and friends.

WNC President J. Kyle Dalpe welcomed attendees with humor before taking a selfie with graduates. Dalpe said, “Today is a celebration of achievement, opportunity and perseverance, but it is also something larger. It is a reminder of the vital role community colleges play in communities like ours. For many students, community college simply isn’t one option among many — it is the option. It’s where dreams begin, second chances are embraced, careers are launched and lives are changed. It is a place where you can Start Here and Go Anywhere.”

Nevada System of Higher Education Chancellor Matt McNair attended to congratulate graduates on their milestone. The keynote address was delivered by Stephen Jon Thompson, an author and technology executive who shared his personal story about overcoming adversity through education. Thompson encouraged graduates to “Believe, Believe, Believe” in themselves and seek support from those around them.

Additional remarks came from Nevada Board of Regents member Carol Del Carlo and Associated Students of Western Nevada President Karla Salas Dominguez.

Western Nevada College features modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, student support centers across campuses in Carson City, Fallon, and Minden; offers affordable education with small classes; collaborates with partners for bachelor’s degrees; holds accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; and operates as part of the Nevada System of Higher Education according to its official website.

The morning concluded with celebrations among graduates and their loved ones.
