Western Nevada College will begin its Summer Session classes on June 8, offering students and community members an opportunity to continue or accelerate their degree and certification training, according to a June 3 announcement.

President J. Kyle Dalpe said, “Summer provides a unique opportunity for students to continue building momentum toward their educational goals while enjoying the flexibility that the season offers. Whether students are completing degree requirements, exploring a new field of study, or returning to the classroom to gain new skills, summer learning helps keep minds engaged and futures moving forward. We encourage students and community members alike to take advantage of the many opportunities available at WNC this summer.”

The last day for students to add a full-term class through myWNC is June 10; after that date, late registration requires submission of a form to Admissions and Records. The college is offering courses in Accounting, American Sign Language, Art, Biology, Communication, Construction, Early Childhood Education, Geography, Introduction to Information Systems, Intermediate Algebra, Algebra, Precalculus and Management.

Those who are not currently enrolled can learn about enrollment at wnc.edu/starthere or apply directly at wnc.edu/admissions. Advising appointments can be scheduled online or by calling campus offices in Carson City or Fallon. The Summer Session concludes on August 1; Fall semester classes will start on August 31.

Western Nevada College features modern classrooms and laboratories across campuses in Carson City, Fallon and Minden; it is part of the Nevada System of Higher Education and holds accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The college focuses on student success through affordable education with small class sizes and personalized instruction while collaborating with partners for bachelor’s degree offerings, according to its official website.

University of Alaska Southeast Chancellor Dr. Aparna Palmer has been named to represent Alaska on the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education following her appointment by Governor Mike Dunleavy. The commission guides regional higher education strategy across multiple western states.
