CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Education and community partners are organizing a series of events this month to promote adult education and family literacy.

Gov. Joe Lombardo has issued a proclamation declaring Sept. 16-20 as Nevada Adult Education and Family Literacy Week. The designation, which coincides with National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, highlights the critical role of adult education programs.

"The Nevada Department of Education, together with our community partners, is committed to supporting lifelong learning and empowering adult learners across Nevada,” said Jhone Ebert, Superintendent of Public Instruction. “Through our collective efforts, we are building stronger communities by providing essential resources and opportunities for adult education and family literacy.”

This marks the inaugural year the Nevada Department of Education is offering events for Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, with plans to make it an annual tradition.

“The week serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of lifelong learning, and the vital role it plays in empowering individuals and strengthening families,” said Craig Statucki, director of the Nevada Department of Education’s Office of Career Readiness, Adult Learning, and Education Options. “By celebrating this initiative, we honor the dedication of educators and organizations that make a difference every day, helping to build a brighter, more informed future for all."
