Under the leadership of Tammy Westergard, GOED launched a groundbreaking program called Individual Career Mapping (ICM) and Training Delivery Model. ICM leverages the power of virtual reality to help close gaps in career navigation and training for underrepresented groups. Users don a VR headset and dive into virtual workplaces, honing new skills.
Speaking of positive impacts, $2.9 million in Community Development Block Grant funds were awarded to six projects in rural Nevada. The funding began on July 1 and will help improve infrastructure and construction in four Nevada communities. In August, Nevada Main Street announced $663,000 in project grants to revitalize communities across the state.
Another key to a diverse economy remains attracting outside investment. During the 10th annual SelectUSA Investment Summit, Governor Joe Lombardo announced five international companies' investment and expansion plans in Nevada, showcasing the work of GOED’s Business and International divisions, Regional Development Authorities, and economic development organizations.
Funded by our Knowledge Fund and in partnership with University of Nevada-Las Vegas, an innovation launchpad will take place October 4-6 in Las Vegas.
