The 2024 YF&R Discussion Meet is nearing, seeking participants aged 18 to 35. The winner will receive an electric scooter, a cash prize, and a trip to compete in the American Farm Bureau Federation YF&R Discussion Meet in San Antonio, Texas.

The YF&R program aims to develop young Farm Bureau members by offering opportunities for leadership and growth. It focuses on personal development in public speaking, issue advocacy, business development, networking, service leadership, media training, and promoting agriculture.

The Discussion Meet simulates a committee meeting where active participation is expected. Participants exchange ideas on pre-determined topics and are evaluated on their discussion skills. This event helps participants understand agricultural issues and learn how to reach consensus and solve problems collectively.

Each year, the American Farm Bureau Federation YF&R committee provides five questions for state-level Discussion Meets. The Nevada Farm Bureau's annual meet will be held from November 7th to 10th at the Rafter 3C Arena in Fallon, Nevada. The winner will advance to the national competition in San Antonio from January 24th to 29th.

This event offers a chance to connect with people across Nevada and other states. Those interested in competing should contact Brittney Money at brittney@nvfb.org for more information.
