Philosophy Club hosts event exploring ancient Greek origins

Mobile mammography unit visiting CSN Charleston Campus on October 23

Nevada Health Centers will bring its mobile mammography unit, the Mammovan, to the College of Southern Nevada's Charleston Campus on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. The Mammovan will offer mammography services from 7:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., with a lunch break from noon to 1 p.m.
United Way offers free language access services for nonprofits and agencies

These services provide interpretation and translation to community nonprofits and government agencies at no cost. Bear severely injured in Davis Fire euthanized due to worsening condition

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), along with the Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary and Nature Care, have announced that the Davis Bear's condition worsened significantly since Friday, September 20. Consequently, it was decided by Animal Ark’s veterinarian, Dr. Lesli Spears, and NDOW's Wildlife Health Specialist, Dr. Nate LaHue, that euthanasia was in the animal’s best interest.

Study finds satellites can accurately monitor groundwater use

Reno, Nev. (September 5, 2024) – Drought remains a significant concern in the Western U.S., prompting water managers to develop groundwater management plans to conserve this essential resource. Groundwater is often pumped to the surface for crop irrigation, with meters traditionally measuring the flow of pumped water. However, these meters are scarce. Scientists at the Desert Research Institute (DRI) investigated whether OpenET, a platform that measures evapotranspiration using satellite data, could bridge this information gap.

The construction of the Nevada Gold Mines Welding Technology Lab began in April 2023 and was completed in time for the Fall 2024 semester.
