The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced extended business hours to assist customers needing credentials to vote in the upcoming election. From Monday, October 21, 2024, through Saturday, November 2, 2024, DMV metro offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Saturday. During this period, no appointments will be necessary.

Additionally, on Monday, November 4, and Tuesday, November 5 (Election Day), DMV metro offices will extend their hours from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. This extension aims to help customers obtain the necessary credentials for voting.

"Our goal is to help every legal voter who wishes to participate in the election," said Director Tonya Laney. "We extended our hours last election cycle and it seemed to work out extremely well."

Nevadans with valid driver's licenses, ID cards or interim documents issued by the DMV have several options for voter registration. The DMV collaborates with the Secretary of State and County Clerks through an Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) system established following a ballot initiative approved in 2018. While the DMV does not register voters or maintain voter rolls directly, it submits registration data to the Secretary of State and County Clerks.

The state also offers same-day registration for all legal voters with proper identification during Election Day and throughout the two-week early voting period ending on November 2.

New residents wishing to use these special hours should come prepared to transfer their out-of-state licenses or IDs and vehicle registrations if needed. More details can be found in the New Resident Guide on license and registration requirements. Vehicle identification number inspections can be completed in advance without an appointment.

Existing Nevada residents needing address updates can do so online at dmv.nv.gov or by bringing proof of address change when they vote; they will not be accepted as walk-in customers.

Further information on voting eligibility and procedures is available on the Nevada Secretary of State’s website at nvsos.gov.
