The clarity of Lake Tahoe’s blue waters in 2023 continued its years-long trend of improving during the winter and deteriorating during the summer. The annual clarity report, released today by the University of California, Davis – Tahoe Environmental Research Center, found that winter lake conditions were the clearest observed since 1983 and the 10th best on record, with visibility of 91.8 feet under the surface, compared with 72.2 feet in 2022.

Nevada approves tax abatements for five firms promising $1 billion investment

The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development has approved five companies to receive $66,606,731 in tax abatements. In return, these companies are projected to create 152 jobs within the next two years at an average hourly wage of $29.72. This figure is expected to rise to 298 jobs over five years. Additionally, these companies will make a capital equipment investment of $1,039,838,428 and generate $308,224,623 in new tax revenues over the 10-year abatement period.
